At a time when livestock producers and feed manufacturers are under increasing pressure to improve efficiency and performance, the 10th Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada (ANCC) will spotlight the science shaping the next generation of nutritional strategies.

Taking place May 5–7, 2026 at the Westin Edmonton, ANCC 2026 will bring together researchers, nutritionists and industry leaders to explore advances in animal nutrition and their role in supporting resilient, sustainable and productive crop and livestock systems across Canada and the world.

Hosted by the Animal Nutrition Association of Canada (ANAC), the conference marks its 10th edition with the theme “Nutrition as the Nexus between Crop Production and Animal Rearing.” The theme reflects a clear reality for today’s livestock sector: nutrition sits at the intersection of biological performance, ingredient innovation and commercial success.

“The Animal Nutrition Conference of Canada has become Canada’s premier nutrition-focused event because it brings together academia, government, regulators and the feed industry in one room,” says Nancy Fischer, Program Chair for ANCC 2026. “That mix of research, innovation and practical, on-the-ground application is what makes the conference unique — and why it’s remained relevant for ten years. This year’s program continues with a strong focus on science that delivers results at the feed mill and on the farm.”

Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the ANCC

To mark its 10th anniversary, ANCC 2026 will feature enhanced programming and networking opportunities that celebrate a decade of collaboration across Canada’s animal nutrition community. These signature moments will acknowledge the event’s growth and continued impact on advancing applied nutrition science.

“Our ANCC Organizing Committee is planning a special program filled with engaging learning sessions and memorable experiences,” says Dr. Tim McAllister, ANCC speaker, researcher and organizing committee member. “Attendees will enjoy a surprise activity during the reception dinner, receive a special 10th anniversary gift and take part in additional opportunities to connect and celebrate with colleagues from across the industry.”

    Where science meets performance

The 2026 program highlights nutrition as a strategic lever in crop and livestock production. Plenary sessions and technical streams will explore advances in gut health, fibre nutrition, microbiome science, precision farming and crop-livestock integration, while also discussing animal resilience, sustainability and productivity in Canadian agriculture.

“Animal nutrition is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve performance outcomes,” says McAllister. “Small adjustments in formulation, digestibility and nutrient utilization can translate into meaningful gains in productivity and economic returns. The ANCC provides a critical forum to evaluate new data and apply it in real-world settings.”

    Connecting research and industry

The conference will feature plenary presentations, focused monogastric and ruminant sessions, graduate student research highlights and structured networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration between academia, industry and the next generation of nutrition professionals.

“One of the most valuable aspects of the ANCC is the opportunity to engage with peers and researchers from across the country,” says Samantha Medeiros, Student Events Chair for ANCC 2026. “The challenges we’re seeing in one province often foreshadow what others may encounter. Sharing what worked – and what didn’t – helps move the entire industry forward. The student programming is especially important, as it creates space for emerging professionals to connect with leaders in the field and better understand the diverse career paths available within animal nutrition.”

“One of ANCC’s greatest strengths is its ability to bring research and commercial application together,” adds Fischer. “That connection is what keeps our industry competitive.”

Registration for ANCC 2026 is now open. Full program details and registration information are available at
